Do you sponsor work permits for international applicants?

Candidates who require work permits will be subject to the same application and selection process as candidates who have the right to work in the UK. Applications for work permits are made if you are successful in all stages of the recruitment process, have received and accepted an offer from us, and we have seen proof of your qualifications. Any job offered is subject to successful attainment of a work permit. All recruitment activity takes place in the UK, which means international applicants will be required to travel to one of our UK offices. Travel expenses of up to £100 will be reimbursed.

If you do require us to sponsor a work permit on your behalf, please complete the ‘Special requirements' section on the application form accordingly.

Please note that employers are required by law to confirm that their employees are eligible to work in the UK, and this check is carried out before your first day at work. If you're unsure about your eligibility to work in the UK, please see http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk for more information.

International applicants must ensure their application is submitted a minimum of 3 months before the published intake date.

What are the minimum entry requirements?

We're looking for people with at least the following:

  • A minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent), grades A to C (including grades B in Maths and English Language) or a minimum of five standard grades at grades 1 to 3 (including at least a grade 2 in Maths and English).
  • At least 260 UCAS points (excluding general studies) or equivalent, either predicted or achieved.

You might be about to sit your A-levels, be a graduate or have been working for while, but that's just the bottom line. We're also after something special: people with originality and passion who can work successfully with colleagues and clients. It's more than just academic – it's about energy, dynamism and excitement.

We're not looking for a Baker Tilly 'type' – we're not that sort of firm. We respect and value difference – it's what makes teamwork exciting.

What if I don't have the minimum entry requirements?

We are unable to take applications forward from candidates that do not meet the minimum entry requirements. Our selection criteria have been developed over a substantial period of time, using our own trainees as the benchmark for success. As you can appreciate, professional qualifications are a huge commitment on the employee's part, requiring a great deal of dedication and determination to take you through to qualification. Our research has shown that those most successful have the academic qualifications that we specify in our recruitment process.

What if circumstances outside my control stopped me from achieving the minimum entry requirements?

We appreciate that every applicant's background is unique to them, and we sympathise with those of you who have been unable to achieve the minimum entry requirements because of personal circumstances beyond your control. As an equal opportunities employer we believe in measuring candidates against fair, transparent and consistent standards, and on this basis we are unable to accept applications from those who have not achieved the minimum standards. Baker Tilly complies withthe Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) and its Code of Conduct and therefore if candidates have obtained lower than predicted academic achievements due to a disability we will consider making reasonable adjustments to our selection process. In this instance please contact the Recruitment Team for further information on how best to progress your application.

I obtained some (or all) of my academic qualifications abroad – how can I show that my qualifications are a credible equivalent to GCSEs and A-levels?

Please contact UK Naric at www.naric.org.uk. UK Naric is the national agency under contract to the Government Department for Education and Skills, and the official source of information and advice on the comparability of international qualifications from over 180 countries worldwide. For a small fee, UK Naric can provide you with certification that will support all applications made in the UK.

I have not studied for many years and no longer have an academic referee, what should I do?

Whilst we prefer to have an academic reference where possible, we do understand that sometimes this is hard to obtain due to the length of time that some individuals have been out of education.
