How we choose people
All graduate recruitment at Baker Tilly starts with candidates completing our online application form. It’s your chance to impress us, so tell us about:
-
your academic success
-
any work experience you’ve done
-
your skills, such as written ability
-
and anything else you have to offer.
So take your time to complete the form carefully and don’t be afraid to sell yourself.
We’ll let you know it’s arrived safely and then, if you’re successful, we’ll invite you to take an online test, prior to a Graduate Assessment Centre at one of our offices, or an easy-to-get-to central location. Don’t worry, you won’t be on your own, you’ll be with other candidates in the same situation.
How should you prepare?
It’s worth remembering that this day is as much about us showing you our capabilities as it is you showing us yours. After all, we both want to be sure we’re perfect for each other.
The most important thing is to do a bit of preparation beforehand – do your homework on Baker Tilly and come armed with lots of questions you’d like to grill us with and maybe a few notes to help you remember what you put on your application form in case we’ve got any questions for you.
The only other tip is to give yourself lots of time for your journey so you can get there nice and early, so you have time to settle in before you start.
On the day, remember to enjoy yourself. The rest will come naturally.
What will it involve?
Typically the assessment process will include:
-
welcome and icebreaker to start the day
-
presentation by a senior partner on our values and your opportunities
-
one-to-one interview – to get to know you
-
group exercise – how would you confront a business challenge?
-
aptitude tests – these ensure consistency with your online tests
-
case study exercise – a realistic example of a client related situation
-
second one-to-one interview
-
buffet lunch with some of our graduates.
Remember - there are no right or wrong answers in any of these activities, we’re more interested in your approach to a challenge.
